Now, as to our review... We are relatively new to RVs. We tent camped for many years until 2005, when we decided to upgrade to the luxury of a PUP.
After a lot of online research, and narrowing down the PUP candidates to three specific makes, we visited pretty near all the dealers within about a 50 miles radius of our home. Between the PUPs being offered, what set Kramers apart was the sense of welcoming and family. Kramer's is a family-owned, family-run business.
We stopped in one Saturday, just "shopping"... we had many questions since everything PUP was new to us. One of the Kramers, Pete, spent a lot of time showing us various models, discussing pluses and minuses, answering our myriad questions. They were very patient, and did not rush us. And, we were not looking at some high end Class C motor home, either. They knew our price range and stuck to what we wanted to spend, even showing us some used PUPs that would have been less expensive.
We left, shopped around a few more weeks, then decided to come back... Kramers just felt "right." To our suprise, they remembered who we were, knew our name, and picked up the conversation where we left off.
We struck a fair deal, got the things we wanted, at a fair price. No hidden fees or costs, everything was up front. We put money down that day, and came back a week later to have them install the hitch and controller, and bring our new baby home.
We've had Kramers fix a couple minor things under warranty, and pop in from time-to-time just to window shop and chat. They've been very helpful, talking me through a fridge repair when a spider web prevented it from running on propane, and answering my silly questions about the electrical system. Going to Kramers is like going to visit your "good" relatives.
Their new store is very large, they have an indoor as well as outdoor show room, the "mechanic's bay" is very clean, well lit, and is huge... it can probably handle a half dozen PUPs or three large motorhomes all at once. And, they finally have room in the "store" section to display all their goodies.
If you are in NE IL or SE WI and looking for a Fleetwood PUP, you would have a very difficult time finding a better vendor than Kramers.
