We bought a new Fleetwood Victory model from them. It was a demo model that they had brought to some local RV shows, but was otherwise used. The sales staff was really friendly and knowledgable. It's when we actually picked up our camper that the problems started. The mechanic who installed our brake controller was extremely rude. I offered some advice on where to run the wires on our brand new van. He couldn't care less, nor was he concerned about where I actually wanted the controller installed. Fortunately, he installed it with Velcro so I was able to move it later. He finished his work and drove our new camper into the parking lot. I got inside my van and started to drive away slowly so that I could test the new brake controller. The trailer brakes locked up immediately, and at full force, when I applied by brakes. This guy had to have known about the problem because he drove our van/camper into the parking lot. We waited for the repair and found out that he had some strands of wire in the plug that were shorting out. It was dark when we left and I didn't notice that he had left the two front stabilizers down! They were up when he first pulled our van into the parking lot. I ended up ripping one off when I went through a drive-thru on my way home. Inspected the van the next day and noticed that my Reese WDH was used! Not only that, but there was a washer missing and one of the lock nuts had been replaced with a normal nut. Drove back up a few days later (80 miles one way) to get a NEW WDH installed. They installed it but didn't put any spacers under the "U" bolts that are required. I finally got those spacers made at a local body shop. The brake controller started falling off the Velcro almost as soon as I left the dealership. I finally got the time to install it with small nuts and bolts by taking off the panel under my dash. When I was at the body shop getting the spacers made for my WDH the guy there noticed bumps on my camper top. The rude mechanic at Kramers had used too long of screws to install the swing down mirror/vanity thingy and the screws almost punctured the top of my camper! Within one week of getting the camper my brakes stopped working. I found out that Fleetwood runs the brake wires in the 2" space between the top of the axle and the trailer frame. Do you think I wanted to bring it back to Kramers? No way. Fixed that myself, but what a hassle. Actually were even more problems but I can't waste any more time on them. Don't be fooled by the friendly sales staff at this place. Most of the employees are related to each other and the vindictive mechanic is actually a son-in-law of the owner. The owner admitted that he's had problems with this guy. Even when I brought my camper back to get the repairs done, the owner wouldn't meet with me. I noticed another buyer posted things about Kramer in the other forums. He too had an incorrectly installed WDH. I also noticed that the Better Business Bureau has given these guys a bad rating too.

First, some important update info: Kramer's finally relocated to a larger facility after more than 40 years at the same location. Here's their new addresss, etc.: Kramer's Kampers 5780 W. Route 173 Zion, IL 60099 Phone: 847-746-5267 Fax: 847-746-5667 Email: [email protected] Now, as to our review... We are relatively new to RVs. We tent camped for many years until 2005, when we decided to upgrade to the luxury of a PUP. After a lot of online research, and narrowing down the PUP candidates to three specific makes, we visited pretty near all the dealers within about a 50 miles radius of our home. Between the PUPs being offered, what set Kramers apart was the sense of welcoming and family. Kramer's is a family-owned, family-run business. We stopped in one Saturday, just "shopping"... we had many questions since everything PUP was new to us. One of the Kramers, Pete, spent a lot of time showing us various models, discussing pluses and minuses, answering our myriad questions. They were very patient, and did not rush us. And, we were not looking at some high end Class C motor home, either. They knew our price range and stuck to what we wanted to spend, even showing us some used PUPs that would have been less expensive. We left, shopped around a few more weeks, then decided to come back... Kramers just felt "right." To our suprise, they remembered who we were, knew our name, and picked up the conversation where we left off. We struck a fair deal, got the things we wanted, at a fair price. No hidden fees or costs, everything was up front. We put money down that day, and came back a week later to have them install the hitch and controller, and bring our new baby home. We've had Kramers fix a couple minor things under warranty, and pop in from time-to-time just to window shop and chat. They've been very helpful, talking me through a fridge repair when a spider web prevented it from running on propane, and answering my silly questions about the electrical system. Going to Kramers is like going to visit your "good" relatives. Their new store is very large, they have an indoor as well as outdoor show room, the "mechanic's bay" is very clean, well lit, and is huge... it can probably handle a half dozen PUPs or three large motorhomes all at once. And, they finally have room in the "store" section to display all their goodies. If you are in NE IL or SE WI and looking for a Fleetwood PUP, you would have a very difficult time finding a better vendor than Kramers.
