Since it is Wednesday, our usual dinnertime is around 8 pm est but we have a lot of the citizens showing up around 9 to 9:30 pm est.

Best dessert in the chat room will be the friendliness of the citizens that are all fat-free, sugar-free, AND contain no calories. May sound boring but it certainly isn t.[:)]

Gene: For the last several weeks whenever I entered the chat room I had problems. I would have to reload the chat room several times before I would actually enter it. Once in the screen would post I was in the room, but every time I attempted to send a message the screen would freeze and the message would disappear into space somewhere. I d exit and reenter but the problem persisted. I always hated that folks in the room would welcome me and I could not respond. I d eventually get PO d and simply exit the chat leaving the folks in there with the impression that I didn t want to chat with em. I m gonna try again tonight but if you see me bopping in and out and not chatting at least you ll know I m trying...earl

Hey Earl, don t worry about it. At first I would get upset with the awful luck I had with it, but there s nothing you can do. It likes us sometimes and not others. If you re using a MAC computer, forget ever going there. It s not compatible. If you re using an IBM or compatible, you can play with your java settings and sometimes get it to work okay for a while.....then again, sometimes not! [:o][;)][&:]

Al: Thanks for the insight. I know my puter is not a Mac, but that s about all I know about it.



As far as messing with the java, I ve tried putting my cup on the left, right and above the keyboard. Had no idea that coffee affected my computer but am aware that the powdered sugar falling off the donuts is a bear to get out of the keyboard...earl

Sorry you are having so many problems.



Don t worry about the bopping in and out on the chat.



Many of us can tell if someone just wants to lurk, is new to the chat or may be having problems like trying to use a mac. Believe me, you have offended no one in the chat.



We make our welcomes to anyone who comes on and we are aware of the problems that people trying to get into the chat can have. Most of us have had some sort of problem ourselves.



For instance, tonight, I gave up on the chat because my posts were posting very slowly. I do not generally have that problem. But my pc was also running very slow on other sites all night.



Sorry that you have to switch your java around so much.[:)]



Earl, maybe if you post what you are using for a browser, others using the same thing might be able to give you some tips.



For instance, I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. To find out, click on the Help menu and About Internet Explorer. That will give you the verison if you are using this browser.



I am also using Windows XP, you may be using Windows 95 or 98. Hope this will give you some help because we would like to see you there.

The IRC chat works with any machine that you can get an IRC client for, including macs & Unix-based machines. There are many IRC clients, so if you don t like one, you can try another.



Since moving to ChatNet, we have had close to zero problems.

and also still be colorful and fun, we would gladly try it out.

I have not been able to get into the chat room. Is there somethigng I should check on? I am using a PC with Netscape 7.1. I get a screen with yellow outlines but it never completes the download...just says- sending to popup times and the hour glass icon hangs on...forever. I have java enabled.

Any suggestions?

It was found before there was a pop-up-times chat. The IRC chat room was running many years before I came along...i.e. more than 5 years.



We ll be chatting tonight from 8:00-10:00 PM (Eastern Time). All are welcome, not just PUT members.

I am not sure but I think some have had problems with Netscape but I could be wrong.
